Passport Requirements

Passports are now required for all International air, land or sea travel excluding St Thomas, St. Croix and San Juan. Passports are valid for ten years for adults and five years for children. Some countries require your passport to have six months validity beyond your return date of travel.  Visa's are sometimes also required. You can obtain a passport application from your nearest Post Office.  It generally takes 3-8 weeks to process. 

Also, be aware that luggage allowances have changed.  You need to check with your individual carrier for the latest restrictions.  Many airlines charge $20 for the 1st checked bag & $30 for the 2nd on Domestic, as well as most International flights.  Most airlines have a 50 lbs maximum weight allowed per checked bag with a maximum size of 62 inches diameter.  You are usually also allowed 1 personal item and 1 carry on bag weighing no more than 40 lbs and no more than 45 inches in diameter.  Snacks and headphones are also for a fee and cash is not accepted, you must use a credit card for payment.

Don't forget the 3-1-1 rule for liquids in your carry on.  Liquids must be in 3 ounce containers or less, must all fit in 1 quart size bag and no more than 1 quart size bag per person.

The TSA is now asking for full names, including middle names and birthdates when making flight reservations.  Be sure to check your driver's license for your exact names before making your reservation.
